The Gladiolus belongs to the Iris family and is ideal for tall flower arrangement. The "Flower of the Gladiator" got its name from the Latin word "gladius," meaning sword, because of the shape of its leaves. It symbolizes generosity, sincerity and infatuation, telling the recipient, "You pierce my heart."
